Women’s Cross Country: Norquist & Fox Shine at MIAC Championships (2025)

Women's Cross Country: Norquist and Fox Receive All-MIAC Honors

St. Paul, Minnesota — When it comes to college cross country, recognizing standout athletes is always exciting, but this year’s awards reveal a particularly notable achievement. Macalester College’s junior Ingrid Norquist and sophomore Kate Fox have earned All-MIAC honors, marking a significant milestone for the team. The MIAC, the conference that includes many top-tier colleges in Minnesota, announced its end-of-season awards today, highlighting the best performers of the year. This marks the first time since 2014 that the Scots have had two runners make it onto the All-MIAC team, which is reserved for the top 15 finishers at the conference championships.

The MIAC Championships took place on Saturday afternoon at Highland 9 Golf Course. Norquist finished in sixth place, completing the 6,000-meter course in just over 22 minutes—22:00.2 to be exact. This finish is notable because it’s the best performance by a Macalester runner at the MIAC Championships since Kimber Meyer '17, who finished second in 2016. It’s a true testament to Norquist’s consistency and growth.

Kate Fox also made her mark, securing 10th place with a time of 22:21.2. This isn’t her first All-MIAC honor; she was also named to the team last year after finishing ninth and earned the MIAC Rookie of the Year award in her debut season. Having two runners in the top ten helped elevate the team’s overall standing, and Macalester finished fourth in the team rankings — a step up from last year’s sixth-place showing.

The conference’s top honors went to Claire Vukovics of Carleton, who was named both MIAC Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year and Rookie of the Year. Additionally, Carleton’s Donna Ricks received the Coach of the Year award for the 14th time, a reflection of her longstanding success and leadership.

Looking ahead, Macalester isn’t stopping here. The team will be sending some runners to compete in the Cannon River Closer, hosted by St. Olaf today at 5:00 p.m. and will also prepare for the NCAA North Region Meet scheduled for November 15 in Colfax, Wisconsin. These upcoming competitions are critical steps toward national qualification, and the team’s progress suggests they’re on an upward trajectory.
